Looking at yearly data is very important for many situations (like your yearly income). For global warming, it is more relevant to look at the cumulative <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;CO2&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Carbon dioxide (CO&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;2&amp;lt;\/sub&amp;gt;) is the primary greenhouse gas emitted through human activities. &amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/co2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>CO2<\/a> emission over time. It is a bit like taking study loan. The loan increases by a certain amount every year. The money you need to pay back is the total amount. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the same with carbon emissions. The concentration is determined by the total emission over time. Think about the study loan example: it is great that you spent less money than last year, but whatever money you used this year will still increase your loan. It is the same with <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;CO2&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Carbon dioxide (CO&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;2&amp;lt;\/sub&amp;gt;) is the primary greenhouse gas emitted through human activities. &amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/co2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>CO2<\/a> concentration, even if we reduce the <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;CO2&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Carbon dioxide (CO&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;2&amp;lt;\/sub&amp;gt;) is the primary greenhouse gas emitted through human activities. &amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/co2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>CO2<\/a> emissions compared to last year, we are still increasing the concentration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">There is a global CO2 budget that we cannot exceed<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a student, you want to minimize your load. Therefore, you need to work with a budget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the same for global warming. In order to stay below the 1,5 degrees Celsius, we need to stay within a specific amount of <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;CO2&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Carbon dioxide (CO&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;2&amp;lt;\/sub&amp;gt;) is the primary greenhouse gas emitted through human activities. &amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/co2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>CO2<\/a> emissions. This is called the carbon budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;IPCC&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;The&amp;amp;nbsp;Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change&amp;amp;nbsp;(IPCC) is an&amp;amp;nbsp;intergovernmental body&amp;amp;nbsp;of the&amp;amp;nbsp;United Nations&amp;amp;nbsp;responsible for advancing knowledge on&amp;amp;nbsp;human-induced&amp;amp;nbsp;climate change.&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/ippc\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>IPCC<\/a> <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;AR6&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;The&nbsp;Sixth Assessment Report&nbsp;(AR6) of the&nbsp;United Nations&nbsp;(UN)&nbsp;Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change&nbsp;(IPCC). &amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/ar6\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>AR6<\/a> Report of 2021 indicates that the remaining carbon budget to remain within 1.5&deg; of global warming is 400 billion tonnes CO<small>2<\/small>.<\/p><cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.carbonindependent.org\/54.html\">2021 IPCC report: the global carbon budget will run out in 9 years<\/a> by CarbonIndependent.org<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to EIA, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/news\/global-co2-emissions-rebounded-to-their-highest-level-in-history-in-2021\">the global CO2 emission for 2021 was 36,3 billion tonnes<\/a>. This means that the budget is used up after 11 years if no reductions are made.
