It is down to the hard work of the UK team; the hard work of all the Parties; the great cooperation that we have seen from all negotiators, and from all ministers; and right at the start of the summit, world leaders came out and set out what they wanted delivered out of this event. I would say, however, that this is a fragile win. We have kept 1.5 alive. That was our overarching objective when we set off on this journey two years ago, taking on the role of the COP presidency-designate.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"our-opinion\">Our opinion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"co2-emissions-need-to-be-reduced-urgently\">CO2 emissions need to be reduced urgently<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome any action towards a better climate. There is no doubt that global climate actions is and will be difficult. We appreciate that commitments have been made and that there are signs of hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also support that <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;GHG&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Greenhouse gases, or GHGs, are&nbsp;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;compound gases that trap heat or longwave radiation in the atmosphere&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;. Their presence in the atmosphere makes the Earth&amp;#039;s surface warmer. ... The principal GHGs, also known as heat-trapping gases, are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and the fluorinated gases.&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/ghg-2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>GHG<\/a> emissions need to be reduced urgently. The principal GHGs, also known as heat-trapping gases, are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and the fluorinated gases.&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/ghg-2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>GHG<\/a> contributed to global warming and that we need to make all efforts to keep global warming below 1,5 degree Celsius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"current-polices-are-not-sufficient\">Current polices are not sufficient<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Having said that, we cannot fool ourselves. The current policies are not enough to ensure that we stay below 1,5 degrees Celsius. Obviously, many organisation have analysed this in depth. Let&rsquo;s take a look at one of them: Climate Action Trackers &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/climateactiontracker.org\/documents\/997\/CAT_2021-11-09_Briefing_Global-Update_Glasgow2030CredibilityGap.pdf?fbclid=IwAR3-dWxb5aiDPHG_kl-Qsuz3FQyDzkBR3Q8_Ak43HxtzTlW5dzhW8rXZsBI\">Warming Projections Global Update<\/a>&ldquo;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Policy implementation on the ground is advancing at a snail&rsquo;s pace. They argue that staying below 2 degrees is also good, it is only 0,5 degree difference. You can&rsquo;t even feel the difference, right? WRONG! Let&rsquo;s take a look at a quote from the article: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/cop26-climate-change-targets\/?fbclid=IwAR153MhhKTyO1qnjm6opRZvlfN7Q1kHvzixPmVsdIPCCX5ZqIqA1jjfTxyY\">Climate Pledges Fall Dangerously Short of the 1.5 &deg;C Target<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>At 1.5 degrees Celsius, we&rsquo;re talking about losing 70 percent of coral reefs; at 2 degrees Celsius, corals will be gone. Their presence in the atmosphere makes the Earth&amp;#039;s surface warmer. ... The principal GHGs, also known as heat-trapping gases, are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and the fluorinated gases.&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/ghg-2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>GHG<\/a> emissions and rightfully so. However, there are other &ndash; even bigger &ndash; problems. According to Stockholm Resilience Institute, there are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stockholmresilience.org\/research\/planetary-boundaries\/the-nine-planetary-boundaries.html\">9 Planetary Boundaries<\/a>. Boundaries that we should stay within, in order to remain in a safe operating space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, several of those <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Planetary boundaries&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;In 2009, 28 internationally renowned researchers identified and quantified a set of nine planetary boundaries within which humanity can continue to develop and feel good in the future. If we cross these limits, abrupt or irreversible environmental changes can occur with serious consequences for humankind.&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/planetary-boundaries\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>Planetary Boundaries<\/a> have already been transgressed. Until 2021, it was believed that 4 out of 9 boundaries where transgressed. <a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.acs.org\/doi\/10.1021\/acs.est.1c04158\">But in early 2022, it became evident there are well beyond the 5th boundary as well<\/a>.
