Human activities are the primary driver of those changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Scientific&nbsp;evidence&nbsp;for&nbsp;warming&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;climate&nbsp;system&nbsp;is&nbsp;unequivocal.<\/p><cite>Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intergovernmental&nbsp;Panel&nbsp;on&nbsp;Climate&nbsp;Change&nbsp;The&nbsp;current&nbsp;warming&nbsp;trend&nbsp;is&nbsp;of particular&nbsp;significance&nbsp;because&nbsp;it&nbsp;is&nbsp;unequivocally&nbsp;the&nbsp;result&nbsp;of&nbsp;human&nbsp;activitysince&nbsp;the&nbsp;mid-20th&nbsp;century&nbsp;and&nbsp;proceeding&nbsp;at&nbsp;a&nbsp;rate&nbsp;that&nbsp;is&nbsp;unprecedented&nbsp;overmillennia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to NASA, t<a href=\"https:\/\/climate.nasa.gov\/evidence\/\">here is comprehensive evidence for the following<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Global Temperature Rise<\/li><li>Warming Ocean<\/li><li>Shrinking Ice Sheets<\/li><li>Glacial Retreat<\/li><li>Decreased Snow Cover<\/li><li>Sea Level Rise<\/li><li>Declining Arctic Sea Ice<\/li><li>Extreme Events<\/li><li>Ocean Acidification<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"causes\">Causes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Human activities (primarily the burning of fossil fuels) have fundamentally increased the concentration of greenhouse gases in Earth&rsquo;s atmosphere, warming the planet. Natural drivers, without human intervention, would push our planet toward a cooling period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are 4 groups of greenhouse gases: <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;CO2&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Carbon dioxide (CO&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;2&amp;lt;\/sub&amp;gt;) is the primary greenhouse gas emitted through human activities. &amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/co2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>CO2<\/a>, NH4, N2O and the F-gasses. The immediate concern is the increase of the concentration of <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;CO2&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Carbon dioxide (CO&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;2&amp;lt;\/sub&amp;gt;) is the primary greenhouse gas emitted through human activities. &amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/co2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>CO2<\/a> in the atmosphere. The graph below illustrates how the concentration startet to rise since 1780. The concentrations has increased significantly and continues to rise at an alarming speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/ourworldindata.org\/grapher\/co2-concentration-long-term?time=154..2018\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 600px; border: 0px none;\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"effects\">Effects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Global warming is one of the effects that is most talked about. The figure below shows the effect og global warming &ndash; each bar represents a year. The effects of human-caused global warming are happening now, are irreversible on the timescale of people alive today, and will worsen in the decades to come. According to NASA, the list includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Change will continue through this century and beyond<\/li><li>Temperatures will continue to rise<\/li><li>Frost-free season (and growing season) will lengthen<\/li><li>Changes in precipitation patterns<\/li><li>More droughts and heat waves<\/li><li>Hurricanes will become stronger and more intense<\/li><li>Sea level will rise 1-8 feet by 2100<\/li><li>Arctic likely to become ice-free<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-is-needed\">What is needed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Understanding what needs to be done is not an easy task. A lot has been written in large reports, but often it uses scientific language and ansbolute numbers (we need to reduce by xx Giga Ton <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;CO2e&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;CO2e stands for &amp;quot;Carbon Dioxide Equivalent&amp;quot; which includes CO2 and other greenhouse gases.&nbsp;&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/co2e\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>Co2e<\/a>). The Science Based Targets organisations, explains it in straight language. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>In 2018, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (<a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;IPCC&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;The&amp;amp;nbsp;Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change&amp;amp;nbsp;(IPCC) is an&amp;amp;nbsp;intergovernmental body&amp;amp;nbsp;of the&amp;amp;nbsp;United Nations&amp;amp;nbsp;responsible for advancing knowledge on&amp;amp;nbsp;human-induced&amp;amp;nbsp;climate change.&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/ippc\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>IPCC<\/a>) warned that global warming must not exceed 1.5&deg;C above pre-industrial temperatures to avoid the catastrophic impacts of climate change. To achieve this, greenhouse gas (<a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;GHG&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Greenhouse gases, or GHGs, are&nbsp;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;compound gases that trap heat or longwave radiation in the atmosphere&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;. Their presence in the atmosphere makes the Earth&amp;#039;s surface warmer. ... The principal GHGs, also known as heat-trapping gases, are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and the fluorinated gases.&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/ghg-2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>GHG<\/a>) emissions must halve by 2030 &ndash; and drop to net zero by 2050.<\/p><cite><a href=\"https:\/\/sciencebasedtargets.org\/about-us\">Science Based Targets <\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So in order to stay below the 1.5&deg;C &ndash; the world needs to achieve  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>By 2030: <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;GHG&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Greenhouse gases, or GHGs, are&nbsp;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;compound gases that trap heat or longwave radiation in the atmosphere&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;. Their presence in the atmosphere makes the Earth&amp;#039;s surface warmer. ... It is a tricky question to answer, as there are so many viewpoints on this. The BBC article &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/future\/article\/20200618-climate-change-who-is-to-blame-and-why-does-it-matter\">Who is really to blame for climate change?<\/a>&rdquo; elaborates on this. We have taken a few highlights of the article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Governments<\/strong>: the climate agenda is so large and so complex that it needs intervention by the government.<\/li><li><strong>The industry<\/strong>: the industry has the largest share of <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;GHG&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Greenhouse gases, or GHGs, are&nbsp;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;compound gases that trap heat or longwave radiation in the atmosphere&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;. Their presence in the atmosphere makes the Earth&amp;#039;s surface warmer. ... The principal GHGs, also known as heat-trapping gases, are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and the fluorinated gases.&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;!-- \/wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/earthscaping.dk\/index.php\/glossary\/ghg-2\/\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'>GHG<\/a> emissions, hence it is only reasonable that they they responsibility. Preferably well ahead of regulations.<\/li><li><strong>Consumers<\/strong>: around 60% of the globe emissions come from consumers. Consequently, consumers must reduce emissions by using less and buying sustainable alternatives.<\/li><li><strong>The rich<\/strong>: the top 10% richest people of the world account for 90% of the <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;GHG&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;&amp;lt;!-- wp:paragraph --&amp;gt;Greenhouse gases, or GHGs, are&nbsp;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;compound gases that trap heat or longwave radiation in the atmosphere&amp;lt;\/strong&amp;gt;. Their presence in the atmosphere makes the Earth&amp;#039;s surface warmer. ... We must expect them to take their fair share.<\/li><li><strong>Rich countries<\/strong>: The world&rsquo;s richest countries have released the vast majority of emissions, and many continue to emit many times more than poorer ones.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Fuel companies<\/strong>: 70% of the world&rsquo;s greenhouse gas emissions over the previous two decades are attributable to just 100 fossil fuel producers <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not want to enforce an opinion on you.
